Publication of marriage banns is mandatory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To apply, please complete the relevant form and send a request to: <a href=\"mailto:canton.consolare@esteri.it\">canton.consolare@esteri.it<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Foreign nationals not resident in Italy who intend to marry before the Italian authorities must submit a certificate of no impediment to marriage issued by the local authorities or by the consular authorities of their country, and their birth certificate; both documents must be duly legalised and translated into Italian.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/MATRIMONIO-CONSOLARE-avvio-pubblicazione-matrimonio.pdf\">Marriage banns application form<\/a><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>INFORMATION FOR ITALIAN CITIZENS INTENDING TO MARRY IN CHINA (CERTIFICATE OF NO IMPEDIMENT TO MARRIAGE)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Italian citizens intending to get married in the People\u2019s Republic of China are advised to contact the Chinese authorities before whom the marriage will be celebrated in order to verify the documentation required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the essential documents requested by the local authorities is the Certificate of Capacity to Marry (Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage, \u5355\u8eab\u8bc1\u660e), issued by this Consulate General in both Italian and Chinese on the basis of a self-declaration of unmarried status.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Certificate of No Impediment is issued to all Italian citizens intending to marry within this consular jurisdiction (regardless of AIRE registration). The issuance of the certificate is subject to a consular fee of \u20ac6, to be paid in local currency at the quarterly exchange rate applied <span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">at the time of the certificate request. The exact amount will be communicated upon issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/matrimonio-NULLA-OSTA-MATRIMONIO.pdf\">Application form for a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage in China<\/a><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>REGISTRATION IN ITALY OF A MARRIAGE CELEBRATED IN CHINA<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the celebration of the marriage, and in order to register the marriage certificate in Italy (free of charge), the Italian citizen must submit to this Consulate General:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>the Application for Registration in Italy of a Marriage Celebrated in China;<\/li>\n<li>the marriage certificate; and<\/li>\n<li>the notarial copy of the Chinese spouse\u2019s birth certificate,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">all prepared in accordance with the instructions below:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Application form for registration in Italy of the marriage, completed electronically and signed by hand by the applicant;<\/li>\n<li>Marriage certificate (\u610f\u5927\u5229\u4eba\u7684\u7ed3\u5a5a\u8bc1\u660e \u2013 red booklet), in which the name of the Italian citizen must appear before that of the Chinese spouse&#8217;s name;<\/li>\n<li>Notarial birth certificate of the foreign spouse (\u4e2d\u56fd\u4eba\u7684\u51fa\u751f\u516c\u8bc1) (<a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Esempio-certificato-notarile-di-nascita.pdf\">example<\/a>), clearly indicating first name, surname, father\u2019s name, mother\u2019s name, date of birth and place of birth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both documents listed above must be prepared by a Notary Public in the form of notarial deeds (\u516c\u8bc1\u4e66), accompanied by a full Italian translation and provided with an Apostille issued by the competent Foreign Affairs Office (FAO\u7701\u5916\u4e8b\u529e) for the relevant province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Only after the above requirements have been met, the documents can be submitted to the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou for onward transmission to the applicant\u2019s Italian municipality of residence or AIRE registration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/matrimonio-TRASCRIZIONE-ATTO-DI-MATRIMONIO.pdf\">Application form for registration in Italy of a Marriage Celebrated in China<\/a><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CONTACT DETAILS FOR THE CHINESE FOREIGN AFFAIRS OFFICES (FAO) WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THIS CONSULATE GENERAL<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>FAO GUANGDONG \u2013 Tel. (86) 0755 88125161<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DIVORCE<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Generally, a divorce sentence issued abroad is not automatically recognised in Italy. In order for Chinese divorce sentences to be registered in Italy, the following documentation must be submitted to the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>a final divorce sentence (original or certified true copy bearing the official seal of the competent Court), with official translation done by a Notary Public and Apostille issued by the competent Foreign Affairs Office (FAO);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">or alternatively:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>the divorce certificate\/booklet issued in the name of the Italian citizen, with official translation carried out by a Notary Public and provided with an Apostille issued by the competent Foreign Affairs Office (FAO);<\/li>\n<li>a statutory declaration signed by the applicant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once duly completed, the documents will be forwarded by this office, at the applicant\u2019s request, to the competent Italian municipality for registration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">IN CASES FALLING WITHIN THE ASSISTED NEGOTIATION PROCEDURE FOR CONSENSUAL SEPARATION (SO-CALLED \u201cFAST-TRACK DIVORCE\u201d), REFERENCE SHOULD BE MADE TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SPOUSES PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 6 OF DECREE-LAW NO. 132 OF 12 SEPTEMBER 2014.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Modulo-richiesta-trascr.-divorzio-1.pdf\">Application form for registration in Italy of a foreign divorce<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Atto-di-notorieta-per-richiesta-trascrizione-divorzio.pdf\">Statutory declaration<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MARRIAGE BANNS FOR MARRIAGES TO BE CELEBRATED IN ITALY Italian citizens registered with AIRE within the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou who intend to get married in Italy must complete the publication of marriage banns through the Consular Office.
