The applicant willnot receive a new driving licence, but rather a certificate of renewal.<br \/>\nPursuant to Art. 126, paragraph 9 of Legislative Decree no. 285 of April 30, 1992 (&#8220;New Traffic Law&#8221;), upon re-establishing residence or domicile in Italy (repatriation), the citizen must confirm the validity of the license in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 8 of the same Article 126.<br \/>\nPLEASE NOTE: Requests for duplicate licenses due to loss, destruction, or theft can only be made in Italy at the competent provincial office of the M.C.T.C. (Motor Vehicle Authority).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">HOW TO RENEW AN ITALIAN DRIVING LICENSE<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To apply for the renewal of an Italian driving license at the Consulate, Italian nationals registered with AIRE or residing within the consular district for at least six months must book an appointment on the <a class=\"focus--mouse\" href=\"https:\/\/prenotami.esteri.it\/\" data-focus-mouse=\"true\">Prenot@mi<\/a> portal and then submit the following documentation:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/domanda_rinnovo_patente.docx\">driving license renewal application form<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/conscanton.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/modulo_visita_medica_per_rinnovo_patente.pdf\">medical certificate<\/a> issued by the Guangdong Healthcare Center for International Travel in Guangzhou, duly completed and stamped by the physician (clinic website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gzwbzx.com\/\">http:\/\/www.gzwbzx.com\/<\/a>; address and opening hours are indicated on the form). This clinic is the only one in this consular district accredited to issue medical certificates for Italian driving license renewals; the clinic operates by appointment, and the applicant must specify that the purpose of the medical examination is the renewal of an Italian driving license.<\/li>\n<li>expiring or expired (within the last 5 years) Italian driving licence ,<\/li>\n<li>applicant&#8217;s passport,<\/li>\n<li>two ID photographs (3.5 x 4 cm, facing forward with a white background).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The consular fee for\u00a0 driving licence&#8217;s renewal is 50 Euros; payment must be made in local currency (RMB).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">VEHICLE EXPORT AND DE-REGISTRATION FROM THE PRA<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In accordance with the amended Article 103 of the Traffic Law, as of 1 January 2020, the permanent export of a vehicle abroad requires prior de-registration from the Public Vehicle Registry (PRA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once de-registered, the vehicle may only be driven to border crossings for export if it is equipped with a temporary transit permit and a temporary licence plate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Consequently, to request de-registration from the PRA for vehicles exported on or after 1 January 2020, Italian citizens may no longer apply to the consular offices located in the country to which the vehicle is being permanently exported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Further information is available at <a class=\"focus--mouse\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aci.it\/\" data-focus-mouse=\"true\">www.aci.it<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Italian nationals residing for a period of at least six months within the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou may apply to renew their driving license.
